Sh. Kiren Rijiju, Honourable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India inaugurated the one day national webinar organized by National Sports University and National Anti Doping Authority, New Delhi on ‘Anti Doping and Sports Science’ on 07th December, 2020.

On this occasion, Sh. Kiren Rijiju reiterated the commitment of Government of India to make Indian sports dope free. He expressed his happiness on the efforts being made by NADA and NSU to promote scientific assistance to the athletes. He also extended his warm welcome to President WADA to visit India.

Mr. Witold Banka, Former Sports Minister, Poland and President of World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) was the Guest of Honour. During his address he highlighted different schemes started by WADA to ensure the safe return of athletes to training during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Sh. Ravi Mital, Secretary Sports, MYAS in his address requested NADA and NSU to organize informative webinars for athletes particularly. He also assured the full support of MYAS for this endeavour. Secertary Sports also informed the audience that MYAS is working on an Act to give NADA and NDTL independent status

Sh. R.C. Mishra IAS (Retd.), Vice-Chancellor, NSU, in his address highlighted that the university has produced the first batch of trained post graduate in Sports Psychologists. and also shared the vision to start new sports sciences courses in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition etc.. He also reiterated the efforts being made by the Hon’ble MOS and MYAS to make National Sports University not only the best in India but also one of the top universities in the world.

Mr. Suniel Shetty, Bollywood celebrity and Brand Ambassador of NADA expressed his delightfulness seeing the efforts being made by MYAS, NADA and NSU to bring changes in sports in India. He appealed to the athletes to stay away from doping and play fair.

DG, NADA, Director, NDTL were among other dignitaries to join the inaugural session. More than 1500 coaches, physical educationist, students joined the webinar. During the webinar experts deliberated on the different aspects of effects of doping, sports medicine, nutrition needs in athletes and process of injury rehabilitation for athletes.
