Several people of Eluru, a city in West Godavari in Andhra Pradesh, were admitted to the hospital on Saturday due to symptoms such as mouth foam, vomiting. This unknown disease aroused fear among the people while healthcare was already burdened with COVID-19 cases. Epilepsy-like symptoms were so severe that doctors in Eluru immediately admitted patients. According to ANI, 140 people were admitted to Eluru Government Hospital and later discharged after treatment from Saturday night.


So far 227 people including 46 children have been hospitalized. After the initial panic, doctors at the government hospital on Sunday said the situation was under control. None of the cases became serious, although the cause of the outbreak is still unknown.

> People who have reported symptoms are not from the same region and are not related.

> Patients cover a wide range of age groups. Symptoms were also found in the elderly and children.

> Symptoms persist for 10 to 15 minutes, the report states.

> Blood reports of patients are normal, the report said.

> Patients found COVID-19 negative.

> The affected areas include Kothapeta, Padmara Videha, Vangaya Gudem area.

> It will be investigated soon whether this has happened due to contaminated water.

Pointing to a possible case of viral infection, Himanshu Shukla, joint collector of West Godavari district, told PTI that the CT scan report of the victims was also normal. Shukla has also said that nothing serious was done till now. While most patients complained of cramps, headaches, some bone fractures, and muscle aches. Many of the patients are feeling distressed because they do not remember what happened to them for which psychiatrists and psychologists were also involved.
