Noida: Transporters, brick kiln owners and traders of Greater Noida have decided to rally behind farmers in their call for Bharat Bandh on Tuesday.
The farmers’ groups said they would block traffic at all major border points between Delhi and Noida, like the DND Flyway, Kalindi Kunj and the Chilla border, which is already sealed for the past three days. They will, however, allow ambulances and vehicles associated with emergency services
Members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union-Bhanu, who have been protesting at Chilla, said though they would like transporters and traders to join them on Tuesday, they would not force anyone. “From noon, the entire district would witness chakka jam. Movement across the borders will be affected too. All district heads of the outfit would march towards Chilla and a mahapanchayat would be held on Tuesday,” said a farmer leader.
The outfit has also decided to hold a “sunder-kand path” (a chapter in Ramayana) on Tuesday to ensure “better sense prevails upon the government”.
The BKU-Akhand, too, said it would support the bandh call and appealed to shopkeepers and establishment owners to down their shutters. However, several associations have extended support to the bandh call while deciding to keep their establishments open. The Atta Market Association is one such.
