New Delhi, Dec 8 (UNI) Demanding repeal of the three new farm laws, Congress on Tuesday said the Centre should bring a fourth law and make MSP mandatory.
Addressing a press conference here, former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, 'These three laws (new farm laws) are related to each other and not in the interest of farmers. Previously, there was a universal market- APMC. MSP will not be applicable to markets outside APMC.
'The government should revoke these laws and call a session of Parliament and discuss whether they want to bring reforms. If they are working in the interest of farmers, then they will welcome this,' the former Haryana Chief Minister said.
'If they want to improve with these laws, then they should bring a fourth law and make MSP mandatory and make it punishable, if someone does not adhere to MSP,' he added.
'In our manifesto, APMC was to be brought closer to the farmers through 'farmer markets'. This would have reduced the burden of transportation on them. Overall, we talked about the expansion of APMC,' the senior Congress leader said.
