Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals (GSFC) has appointed Mukesh Puri, IAS as the new Managing Director of the company. With that, GSFC stated that the Arvind Agarwal, IAS position ceased as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Company on completion of the term.
Puri is currently posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development & Urban Housing Department, Government of Gujarat. He has also worked with UNICEF for a period of 3 years.
GSFC in its regulatory filing stated that Puri is an lAS officer with 32 years of experience in public administration. He has done Post Graduation in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in International Political Economics from the University of Tsukuba, Japan.
Further, Puri has held several important positions in the State Government and Government of India such as Collector and District Magistrate; Dy. Director, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA); Commissioner of Commercial Taxes; Principal Secretary, Education Department and Water Supply Department. Shri Puri has held the position of Managing Director, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL); and Chairman, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB).
At around 2.30 pm, GSFC was trading at Rs73.65 per piece down by 2.32% on Sensex.
