Thales has joined the list of external key management partners supporting the EKM (External Key Manager) service offered by Google Cloud. Under this collaboration, Thales’ CipherTrust Key Broker will enable clients to control the encryption keys used within Google Cloud to protect sensitive data. A key benefit for businesses is that the master keys reside outside the Google Cloud environment and are held in a Thales Luna Cloud HSM (Hardware Security Module), which acts as the trust anchor for the CipherTrust Key Broker system.
Available on Thales’s Data Protection on Demand platform, this offering has been developed to simplify how customers can improve security while keeping full control on the origin and quality of keys that protect their sensitive data in both the private and public cloud.
