SFs launch CASO after militants escape from checkpoint in Shopian

Srinagar, Dec 7 (UNI) Security forces on Monday launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) after militants escaped from a checkpoint in south Kashmir district of Shopian.

Official sources said that security forces signaled a vehicle to stop at a checkpoint in Shopian on Monday evening. However, they said the speeding vehicle managed to escape from the checkpoint.

They said the vehicle was later found abandoned at a distance and the militants had escaped on foot. “The vehicle belongs to a Congress leader Gowhar Hussain Wani,” they said, adding reinforcement has been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to trace the militants.
