Imphal, December 06 2020: Imphal West district commando arrested a self styled second lieutenant of UNLF from Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai during a cordon and search operation today morning.

Following reliable information from police sources about the presence of some active members of the banned underground outfit in Keibi Kumuda area, the team of Imphal West district commando under the command of L Amarjit, Additional SP led by Inspector P Achouba, OC Imphal West commando launched the search operation and arrested the self styled second lieutenant of UNLF identified as Sapam Santikumar alias Manaoton Macha, 46, of Keibi Kumuda Maning Leikai.

On preliminary interrogation, the arrested person revealed that he had joined the outfit in the year 1993 through one (late) Maipak of Sugnu Pangaltabi and got his basic military training at Chumnu Myanmar.

He was functioning under the command of self styled commander of Imphal East district, Tomba Macha of Wangoo area.

He had been instructed by his commander to recruit young boys from their locality to join the outfit, said police.

The arrested person has been handed over to Sagolmang Police Station for further necessary legal action.
