Farmers protest: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav detained for violating Section 144
Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav SP was detained by police after he violated Section 144 of the CrPC and staged a sit-in outside his residence in Lucknow. Yadav was bundled into a police van after he staged a dharna against the farm bills. Yadav had announced to visit Kannau to take part in SP's Kisan Yatra aimed at expressing solidarity with the farmers' protest. The UP administration didn't give permission to the Samajwadi Party chief to visit Kannauj following which the portion of the Vikramaditya Marg leading to the SP office was sealed by the police.
