Two girls found dead in Vaigai river in Madurai

MADURAI: Two sisters aged thirteen and twelve were found dead in the Vaigai river in Madurai on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as M Suthi, 13, of Veerakaliamman Kovil Street near Arapalayam and her sister, M Suji, 12. Their father is working in a teashop.
Police said the girls wanted their mother to buy them some stationery items. They kept on insisting despite her mother asking them to wait till their father returned home.
The girls left home on Sunday noon and did not return. The parents informed police. The children could not be located.
The Karimedu police got information that bodies of children were found in two separate places in the Vaigai river. A team rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them to Government Rajaji Hospital for postmortem.
The police registered a case and began investigations.
