'Karamati bulb': 3 men cheat businessman of Rs 9 lakh in UP
Bareilly, Dec 07: After 'Aladdin ka chirag', magic glass and a two-headed snake, it is time for magical bulb. A businessman has allegedly been duped by three men by Rs 9 lakh on the pretext of buying a 'karamati' bulb.

The three men told the businessman that the bulb would attract expensive metals like gold and would bring him prosperity.
The accused won the trust of the businessman by showing him tricks with special magnets. The businessman faced losses during the COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to earn easy money.
The case came to light when a complaint was lodged against the three accused- Chutkan Khan, Masoom Khan and Irfan Khan, who are the residents of Lakhimpur Kheri. The complainant was identified as Nitesh Malhotra.
One of the accused allegedly called Malhotra and offered to sell a 'karamati' bulb to him, The Times of India reported. The man said that the bulb would provide prosperity to him. Malhotra did not doubt the intentions of the accused and readily bought the dark LED bulb with special magnets for Rs 9 lakh.
Kheri SSP Vijay Dhull said, "Irfan has half a dozen cheating cases registered under his name. Masoom was earlier booked for cheating and dacoity too. The trio is from Kheri's Nighsan area."
On the similar context, in October this year, two men allegedly cheated a London-returned doctor of Rs 2.5 cr by selling him 'Aladdin Ka Chirag' in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The accused claimed that the chirag could fulfil all his wishes. The accused allegedly made the man see the jinn that appeared from the magic lamp. The man, however, approached the police that the lamp was worthless and he had been duped.
