All India people's science network opposes move to name biotechnology centre in Kerala after Golwalker
MADURAI: All India People’s Science Network condemned the move to name the second campus in Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, in Kerala, after the RSS Founder Golwalker, a person who made fun of science.

General Secretary of the network P Rajamanickam in a statement said that the central government said that the second campus in the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology would be named after RSS founder M S Golwalker. He is a person who said that science and technology was a westernised technology.

"He made fun of science and his so called descendants said that science and technology was not new to India, they had termed the birth of the Kauravas as stem cell culture, and that Karna, was an example of genetic science as he was born outside the womb," Rajamanickam said.

Hence, institutions of science and technology should not turn into centres for promotion of fake science ideas.

"They would change the concept of science, like they were doing to ancient cities founded by Muslims, and renaming them based on Hindutuva. Hence, naming the centre after a person who was against the basis of science is highly condemnable, " he added.

The central government should take note of the protests by the Government of Kerala and opposition parties, to name the second campus after Golwalker and drop the move, he has said.

Also, the second campus should be called as Rajiv Gandhi centre, he said.

If needed it could be named after leading Indian scientists for administrative reasons, he added.
