Khattar expresses gratitude to brave soldiers of country

Chandigarh, Dec 7 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday expressed his gratitude to the brave soldiers of the country, on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day.
Minister of State for Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Om Prakash Yadav pinned a flag, the symbol of Indian Armed Forces, to Mr Khattar, at PWD rest house in Gurugram.
Congratulating the soldiers of the armed forces of the country, the Chief Minister said, ''Our brave soldiers protect the borders of the country in difficult circumstances without caring about their lives, so that we are able to sleep well.
''Therefore, it is the responsibility of all of us to think about the welfare of soldiers and their families,'' he added.
Donating towards the Armed Forces Flag Fund, Mr Khattar appealed to the people of the state to voluntarily contribute to the Fund, for the welfare of soldiers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yadav said that on this day, millions of people of the country contribute financially for the welfare of soldiers of the Indian Army.
He said this contribution could also be made online by visiting the website of the Kendriya Sainik Board.
On August 28, 1949, a committee was formed for the purpose of collecting funds for the welfare of soldiers of the Indian Army and only after the recommendation of the Committee, December 7 was chosen for this day, he added.
The day, also observed as Armed Forces Flag Day, is considered special for the Army and its soldiers, said Mr Yadav.
On this occasion, Minister of State Om Prakash Yadav and MLA Gurugram Sudhir Singla was pinned flag by Secretary, Zila Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Board, Colonel (Retd) Aman Yadav, for which they also donated towards the Armed Forces Flag Fund.
Those present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri, Commissioner of Police KK Rao, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Vinay Pratap Singh and SDM Jitender Kumar.
