Haryana CS pays floral tributes to BR Ambedkar on death anniv

Chandigarh, Dec 7 (UNI) Haryana Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan on Monday paid floral tributes to the Architect of Indian constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar to mark his death anniversary, observed as "Mahaparinirvana Diwas" at Civil Secretariat, Haryana.
Mr Vardhan inaugurated the ceremony by lighting a lamp at the programme, organised by the Haryana Civil Secretariat Scheduled Caste/Tribe Employees Federation, Chandigarh.
In the programme, the Chief Secretary said Dr Ambedkar proved that a person can achieve anything with strong determination and hard work.
Besides Masters in 64 subjects, Baba Saheb knew nine languages and studied all major religions, he added.
Baba Saheb led his contribution to change the working schedule from 14 to 8 hours a day in the country.
Throughout his life, Dr Ambedkar fought for empowering poor classes in the society. He was a supporter of promoting education, the Chief Secretary added.
''All of us should follow the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,'' he said.
Those present on the occasion included President of Haryana Civil Secretariat Scheduled Caste/Tribe Employees Federation Satyawaan Saroha; Additional Chief Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Pranab Kishore Das and Additional Chief, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department Dheera Khandelwal.
Besides, Director General of Medical Education and Research Amneet P Kumar; Director, Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Backward Classes Geeta Bharti and other senior officers attended the event.
