The setting up of the Garments Sector Council in Pakistan will bridge the gap between the industry and the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), the latter’s chairperson Ali Salman Siddique recently said. Siddique said the authority will update the syllabus of relevant courses following the recommendations of this council.

This will enable TEVTA to prepare a workforce as per the demand and needs of the industry, he said addressing a meeting at the TEVTA secretariat.

He had met top representatives from the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC) and textile industry associations to discuss this, he was quoted as saying by Pakistani media reports.

The chairperson directed TEVTA officials in Faisalabad to present a report on institutions located in the city to upgrade them as per the requirement of the market in line with the recommendations of the textile and garments industry.
