Eir to replace little-used phone kiosks with electric vehicle chargers

Monday 7 December 2020 | 16:56 CET | News

Eir has partnered with car charging network operator EasyGo to replace up to 180 eir phone kiosks across Ireland with Electric Vehicle Rapid Chargers.

The roll-out will involve Tritium's simultaneous DC Rapid Chargers, which can charge a vehicle up to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. The EasyGo network is currently used by more than 7,00 Irish electric vehicle drivers, with more than 1,200 charge points across the country. Eir CEO Carolan Lennon said the company was committed to helping develop a greener, more sustainable country, with the rapid chargers replacing little-used legacy infrastructure.
