Tamil Nadu reports 1,312 fresh Covid-19 cases

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu added 1,312 cases and 16 deaths to the Covid-19 registry on Monday. The case tally touched 791,552 and the cumulative death toll reached 11,809. There were 10,695 people still undergoing treatment.
All districts barring Perambalur reported new cases on Monday while 31 of 37 districts reported zero deaths.
Chennai reported seven deaths while neighbouring Tiruvallur reported four deaths. Coimbatore recorded two deaths. Three other districts to report deaths were Cuddalore, Kancheepuram and Nagapattinam.
Chennai topped the cases table with 307 cases, followed by 124 cases in Coimbatore. Cases were below 100 in all other districts.
With 615 fresh cases, the eleven districts in the north reported 46% of fresh cases. These districts together reported 13 (81%) deaths.
After the northern districts, the eight districts in the west together reported 392 fresh cases and two deaths. The central districts reported 135 cases, while the 10 southern districts reported 170 cases. There were no deaths in any of the southern districts in the last 24 hours. Central districts reported one death.
On Monday, 1,389 patients were discharged from hospitals pushing the cure rate to 97%.
