BATHINDA: On a call given by farm organisations from across the country, effigies of union government and corporates were burnt at various places across Punjab on Saturday. Scores of farmers including large number of women participated in the events of burning effigies. The farmers raised voices against the Narendra Modi led Union government accusing it for the benefit of corporates.
Earlier farmers had jointly burnt effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ambani and Gautam Adani as Ravana on Dussehra.
The farm organisations have also given call for Bharat Bandh on December 8 if the issue is solved in the 5th round of talks.
"As per the call given by farm organisations, we burnt the effigies of government and corporates. We will continue holding protests if the union government fails to repeal the agri laws", said farm organisation BKU Ekta Ugrahan activist Mothu Singh Kotda.
Woman farm activist Inderjit Kaur said we are determined to intensify the protests if the government not concede the demand of farmers if repealing agri laws. We showcased it by burning government effigies.
