Chennai, Dec 5 (UNI) The Cyclonic storm 'Burevi', which has
gradually weakened and became a well marked low pressure
area, continued to remain practically stationary close to the
southern Ramanathapuram district coast during the past
36 hours.
A bulletin issued by the Met Office said the depression over Gulf
of Mannar close to Ramanathapuram district coast remained
practically stationary, weakened into a Well Marked Low Pressure
Area and lay centered over Gulf of Mannar.
The associated wind speed is about 30-40 gusting to 50 kmph.
Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur at
isolated places over Tamilnadu and Puducherry for the next
two days.
Heavy rainfall at isolated places is also likely over south
Kerala and Mahe and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated
places over Kerala tomorrow.
Squally wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is
very likely over Gulf of Mannar and adjoining southwest Bay of
Bengal, along and off south Tamilnadu coast--Ramanathapuram,
Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts--during the
next 12 hours.
Squally wind speed reaching 35-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph is
very likely over Lakshadweep-Maldives and Comorin area, south
east Arabian Sea and along and off south Kerala coast for two
days.
Sea condition will be rough to very rough over Gulf of Mannar
and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, along and off south
Tamilnadu coast in places like Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi,
Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts and improve thereafter.
Sea condition will be rough to very rough over Lakshadweep-
Maldives and Comorin area, southeast Arabian Sea and along
and off south Kerala coast for the next two days.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into Gulf of Mannar
and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, along and off south
Tamilnadu coast today and into Lakshadweep-Maldives and
Comorin area, southeast Arabian Sea and along and off south
Kerala coast for the next two days.
