PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry police department has allotted a dedicated BSNL closed user group (CUG) mobile number (94892 05009) for special branch unit to receive 'secret information' from the public on illegal activities and movements of anti-social elements, activities of banned organizations, sale of drugs, smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives, controversial speeches and corrupt practices among others.
SSP (crime and investigation) Akansha Yadav said information received would be passed on to the authorities concerned for taking necessary action without delay.
The SSP said the identity of the informant would not be revealed in any circumstances. She said the move was based on the direction of lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi and DGP Balaji Srivastava.
