Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Sunil Jakhar today took credit for openly supporting the farmer’s agitation at the very outset of passing of the ordinances on the three farm bills.
‘Spread awareness’
By opposing the farm Bills at the very outset of passing of the ordinances, Punjab has not only saved its neck but created awareness at pan-India level. - Sunil Jakhar, PPCC Chief
“It has been unprecedented that any government comes in support of farmers’ agitation. By opposing the farm bills at the very outset of passing of the ordinances, Punjab has not only saved its neck but created awareness at pan India level,” Jakhar said.
At the same time, he blamed the BJP for not taking the farmers’ concerns seriously when the agitation started in Punjab. “The Chief Minister repeatedly asked the Centre to intervene before the situation goes out of hand. The same is happening now. The saffron party should have handled it there itself, instead of riding a high horse,” he said.
