Manipur reports 168 new cases of COVID-19, 4 die

Imphal, Dec 5 (UNI) For the third consecutive day, the recoveries exceeded new Covid cases in Manipur as 168 people were infected during the past 24 hours while 210 were cured and discharged in the same period.
As many as four people lost their lives in the past one day.
Of the freshly reported cases, 87 were male while 70 were female. Among the cases were 9 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
The positive persons were tested at JNIMS (60), RIMS (33), Imphal East(7), Imphal West (13). Maipakpi (1), Shija Hospital (10). Raj Medicity (6), Escent Diagnostics (3), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (9), Senapati (3),
Noney (7), Jiribam (3) and Babina Diagnostics (10).
The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West (47), Imphal East (64), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (4), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (3), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (3), Jiribam (3) and
Noney (5). All were locals without any significant travel history.
They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place.
In the last 24 hours, four persons aged 41 yrs (female, Imphal West), 33 yrs (male, Churachandpur), 60 yrs (male. Imphal East) and 56 yrs (male, Imphal East) expired at Raj Medicity (1) and JNIMS Hospital (3)
respectively. The cumulative number of deaths was 299.
The total number of discharged persons was 210. They were from Home Isolation (138), RIMS (10), JNIMS (2), LKK (17), UNACCO (5), RD Wing (1), PR Kakching (6), TK Ukhrul (1), Rajmed (2), Bal Bhavan (4),
Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (6), Moreh (6), Noney (1) and Jiribam (6).
The cumulative number of positive cases was 25,857 (General Population — 22,702 and Central Security Personnel — 3,155). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 22,655 (General Population — 19,742 and
Central Security Personnel — 2.913). The number of active cases was 2,903 (General Population — 2,665 and Central Security Personnel — 238). The recovery rate was 87.61 % said Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Spokesperson, Health Department, Manipur.
