Narsingh clears Covid test, set for World Cup in Serbia
Wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s participation in the upcoming World Cup in Serbia was confirmed today after he returned a negative test for the coronavirus. Making a comeback to competitive wrestling after serving a four-year doping ban, Narsingh had replaced Jitender Kinha in the 74kg in the Indian squad but was rendered doubtful for the competition after testing positive for the virus. The Wrestling Federation of India confirmed that he will travel to Belgrade on December 14 along with the men’s freestyle squad. Many top wrestlers, including Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, are skipping the event.

Himachal FC win Himachal Football League
Himachal Football Club beat Techtro Swades United FC 2-0 to win the final of the Himachal Football League in Una today. Mohit Sharma, who was adjudged the Man of the Match, scored the opener in the 63rd minute. In the 88th minute, T Sadanand doubled the lead. Techtro Swades had four foreign players in their ranks. Neeraj Jwala was named the tournament’s best defender. Suraj Malik got the best goalkeeper award. Mangat Thakur got the emerging player award. Himachal FC, Techtro, SAI Kangra FC and Shimla FC have qualified for the second division I-League tournament.

Tokyo Olympics delay costs may reach $2.8 billion
The cost of the postponed Tokyo Olympics could reach about $2.8 billion, according to figures released today by the Tokyo organising committee, the Tokyo city government and Japan’s national government. The numbers are in line with estimates that have been made in Japan since the Olympics were postponed eight months ago. They are now set to open on July 23, 2021.

Nair appointed chief coach of Indian athletics
The Athletics Federation of India today appointed Radhakrishnan Nair as its full-time chief coach, filling the post left vacant after the resignation of Bahadur Singh in July.
