Imphal, December 04 2020: In two separate operations conducted on December 1, troops of Assam Rifles of Spear Corps along with Manipur Police apprehended an insurgent of proscribed group Liberation Tiger of Tribals (LTT) and an arms trafficker along with weapons and ammunition in their possession.

Acting on a reliable input, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and Police in which one LTT insurgent was apprehended near Pangei Bazar, Imphal East District.

One 9 mm pistol with magazine and seven live rounds were recovered from the insurgent, said a release of IGAR.

In another operation, a joint team apprehended an arms trafficker near Yaingangpokpi Bazar, Imphal East District and recovered one .22 mm pistol with a magazine and two live rounds, it said.

Both the individuals along with recovered weapons and ammunition were handed over to Police for further investigation, it continued.
