Devotees throng a free wheat grass juice stall during the 551st Guru Nanak Parkash Purb celebrations in Sultanpur Lodhi . Malkiat Singh
Of the many langars which kept devotees satiated during Gurpurab celebrations at Sultanpur Lodhi was an elderly man with his stall of wheatgrass juice. Kapurthala resident Bhai Harjit Singh Pattar took wheatgrass juice to the sangat to stress on the importance of the miracle grass in warding off diseases. The fully organic juice—Pattar says—is a one-herb solution to the warding off myriad diseases. After three-day langar during Gurpurab, Pattar also holds the same langar regularly outside the Yuvraj Motor Works in Kapurthala where 150 people are turning up daily. Patients gather at 7.15 am, say their prayers together and then langar is disbursed. The juice is formally promoted under the aegis of Baba Shree Chand Ji Nishkaam Sewa Society which Pattar is a member. Pattar says, “It has warded off cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and many other diseases. It is a fully organic juice extracted from the wheatgrass grown by me. The entire process is organic and very simple. There are no side effects. You just have to take 20 to 30 ml in the morning for three months during which you have to give up outside food. It has cured even incurable diseases.”
