PM Modi to lay virtual keystone of Agra Metro project in December

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to lay a virtual keystone of the project this December, work on the Metro Rail project in Agra has started on a large scale. The keystone laying ceremony is expected to be joined in virtually by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

According to the available information, the live screening of the PM Modi’s address is to be held at the PAC grounds on Fatehabad Road. The barricading work for the parking to be constructed on the Fatehabad Road has also been initiated. UP Metro Rail Corporation has given the slogan ‘Harit Metro – Surakshit Metro’ (Green Metro – Safe Metro) for the Agra project.

A senior railway official told India Today TV that the initial six stations to be built in the first phase of the metro project will be divided into three elevated and three underground stations, with the latter ones being constructed in Purani Mandi, Agra Fort, and Jama Masjid.

The tunnel boring machine has already started working for these stations and the elevated ramp will come up in Purani Mandi near the Taj Mahal. The tender process for the remaining two stations is in the final stages with the tender expected to be floated on December 10.

About five hectares of land has been marked for the parking and underground station in Shahjahan Park which belongs to the state government.
