India-Bangladesh border talks will be out of Delhi for the first time

The Director-General level border talks of India and Bangladesh are expected to be held later this month in Guwahati. Official sources said that for the first time bilateral talks will be held outside Delhi.

The high-level talks between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will begin on 22 December. The four-day talks will discuss the elimination of crime on the border and enhance mutual cooperation. The capital of Assam, Guwahati is the base of the Guwahati Frontier Headquarters of BSF.

Its jawans monitor the 4996-km border of the 4096-km India-Bangladesh border. The Special BSF Water Wing monitors the border areas along the river, including Dhubri in Assam. Sources said that such talks between the two countries started in 1993 and since then it will be the first time that the talks will be out of Delhi.
