Three more deaths recorded to take total toll to 296

Imphal, December 03 2020: Even as the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 25,536 with 146 fresh infections, the disease has claimed three more lives in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 296 .

The number of active cases is 3070 and the recovery rate at present is 86.82 per cent.

The 3 persons who succumbed to COVID-19 include one 56-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man from Imphal West and one 75-year-old woman from Bishnupur district.

The woman from Imphal West died at Shija Hospital while the other two died at Raj Medicity, said the daily update on Covid provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room today.

Notably, the official report is yet to reflect the two deaths reported by this paper earlier.

While the death of an Indian army Colonel was reported by this paper today, the other death of a 42-year-old man from Imphal West was reported on December 1 .

These two cases have not been reflected in the official report as the official toll reported only 294 deaths due to COVID-19 .

Meanwhile, the report of the COVID-19 Common Control "Room issued by Additional Director, Health, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said 146 persons including 11 security personnel and 135 civilians tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The 135 civilians hail from Imphal West (49), Imphal East (41), Bishnupur (17), Thoubal (10), Churachandpur (7), Tamenglong (4), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (2), Senapati (1) and Tengnoupal (1) .

All of them have no significant travel history and they are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the report.

In the last 24 hours, 235 persons recovered from COVID-19 .

While 132 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres opened at Kangpokpi (1), RD Wing (2), TK Ukhrul (2), Bal Bhavan (2), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (6), PR Kakching (7), LKK (9), RIMS (12), UNACCO (23), and CAPF (36) .

The cumulative number of positive cases is 25,536 including 22,395 civilians and 3141 Central security personnel.

The total number of recovered cases is 22172 including 19335 civilians and 2837 security personnel.

The number of active cases is 3070 including 2770 civilians and 300 security personnel.

The recovery rate stands at 86.82 percent, said the Government report.

Late report from JNIMS said 194 samples were tested at the hospital today and 32 of them were found positive for COVID-19 .
