MANGALURU: Experts suggested recovering the wreck of sunken fishing boat ‘Shreeraksha,’ after efforts to locate fisherman Mohammed Ansar failed.
The rescue team, including coastal security police, fishermen and divers, continued the search operation on the third day. Nineteen fishermen have been rescued and bodies of five recovered so far.
An official from the department of fisheries said experts have recommended recovering the sunken boat. Various methods, including the use of a barge, were discussed. The boat wreck may pose a threat to other vessels. “Experts suspect the missing fisherman may have drowned along with the capsized boat. Minister Kota Shrinivas Poojari has made suggestions to deputy commissioner KV Rajendra, who will take a final decision,” the officer said. An inquiry has been ordered.
