PUNE: The Pune police on Thursday night carried out 33 raids at different parts of the city and seized gutka worth Rs 12 lakh.
This is the second such major action against the sell of illegal gutka in the city within 15 days. On November 20, the police had seized gutka worth Rs 48 lakh.
Pune police commissioner Amitabh Gupta received an information about the illegal sell of Gutka in Hadapsar, Wanowrie, Kondhwa, Kothrud, Warje, Uttamnagar and Peth areas. "We had fanned 33 teams and carried out raids at the different parts. We have registered 23 offences and seized Gutka worth Rs 12 lakh," said an officer from the city police.
The officer said that the police have registered offence against 29 people.
The city police have also planned an action against the people who smuggled Gutka and paan masala into the city.
