A teenage girl accused of stabbing a man to death has appeared in court via video link.

The 14-year-old suspect, who cannot be named because of her age, is charged with the murder of Nimroy Hendricks in Crawley on 27 October.

Mr Hendricks, 24, was found with fatal stab wounds to the chest in Russell Way in the Three Bridges area of the West Sussex town at around 9pm.

He was treated by paramedics and an air ambulance doctor, but died at the scene.

During the short hearing at Hove Crown Court, the defendant spoke only to confirm her name.

The case was adjourned for a further hearing on 22 January and a preliminary trial date was set for 7 June.

Judge Christine Laing QC told the teenager: "There is going to be another hearing and it can be in the same way by video link.

"You will remain in the care of the facility that you are at."
