The BJP had announced several freebies in its manifesto: Free tablets for government school students in view of difficulties in accessing online education during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Rs 25,000 for each family affected by the recent rains in the city, free electricity for families that consume less than 100 units, and, taking a leaf from the Congress manifesto, free travel for women in city buses and metro trains.

The document, released by former Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, however, didn't mention free COVID-19 vaccine for all. The saffron party had made that promise during campaigning for the Bihar Assembly election, which sparked a controversy.

The GHMC manifesto said that the vaccine will be given by the GHMC as per the Central Government's plan.

No victory rally for 48-hours after GHMC results: police

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that three-level security arrangements are in place at all the counting centers with the deployment of CRPF, city armed reserve police, and city civil police personnel.

He said an Assistant Commissioner of Police will be on duty at each center and an additional DCP each for three counting centers.

Results to be declared in 150 wards

Counting of votes in the keenly-fought Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections began at 8 am on Friday.

The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has set up counting centres at 30 places in the city amid tight security arrangements for the process.
Out of the total 150 wards in the GHMC, polling was held for 149 wards on 1 December and a fresh poll was conducted on Thursday in one ward (Old Malakpet).

As many as 8,152 personnel, and 31 counting observers were deployed on Friday. The entire counting process will be recorded and monitored via CCTV cameras at each table.

Repoll in Old Malakpet ward

Repolling was held in the Old Malakpet ward of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday. The repolling was ordered after an error was detected in the ballot paper with regard to the symbol of the CPI candidate during polling on 1 December.

The counting of votes in the 150-ward GHMC poll would be taken up on Friday.
