The CIA wing of the city police has nabbed a notorious car thief and recovered three stolen vehicles from his possession.
The suspect has been identified as Rajesh Kakkar (43), alias Raja, a resident of Patti. The police recovered Pajero, Ritz and I 20 cars from his possession.
In a statement, the CIA investigation officer, ASI Butta Singh, stated on November 25, the suspect was booked on the charges of theft, cheating and forgery. Today, acting on a tip-off, he was nabbed from the Jawaddi area and three cars were recovered from him, the ASI added.
The suspect had a notorious past and was already facing cases of vehicle thefts registered in Delhi, Maharashtra and other states, the ASI said. The suspect was eighth standard pass, the ASI added.
Police remand of the suspect would be sought from the court so that more stolen vehicles could be recovered, the ASI said.
The police were also identifying persons to whom the suspect had sold stolen vehicles, the ASI added. Action would be taken against buyers of stolen vehicles, the ASI said. More thieves could be nabbed during further probe, the ASI added. — TNS
