Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Kailash Choudhary said on Friday that the protests by farmers are not a nationwide phenomenon and they are only restricted to Punjab.
Choudhary said that the farm bills are beneficial to the farmers and expressed his hopes that a positive outcome will come out of the next round of talks between the farmers and government to be held on Saturday.
“The farmers’ agitation is not in the entire country and is only in Punjab. Even in Punjab, such people, whom we can say…are mostly Congress workers. I want to say that the decision will be taken in the interest of the farmers and in tomorrow’s meeting the outcome will be positive,” Choudhary told reporters in Jaipur on Friday.
Choudhary said that the opposition has attempted to mislead farmers on the issue.
“In the entire state, there is anger against the Rajasthan government. They have gone back on their promises to farmers, youth. They had said they will waive off entire loans of farmers, will give unemployment allowance of Rs 3,500 to the youth but they couldn’t. This is why, the public is angry against the Congress government while they trust the development works done by Narendra Modi ji and BJP,” said Choudhary.
He added that the BJP will win most of the Zila Pramukh and Pradhan posts in the Panchayati Raj institutions.
Reacting to NDA member and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal’s statement that he will reconsider his party’s future in the NDA if the three farm bills are not withdrawn, Choudhary said that if Beniwal reads the bills, he will understand that they are in the interest of farmers.
Choudhary added that he feels Beniwal’s ‘confusion’ will be allayed in one or two days and he knows whatever decision the PM takes is for the welfare of farmers.
