PM Modi greets Navy personnel on Navy Day

New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted all Navy personnel on the occasion of the Navy Day.

Remembering the rich maritime tradition of over centuries, in his message, Mr Modi paid tributes to the Navy and said that it fearlessly protects the country's coasts along with rendering humanitarian assistance in times of need.

PM Modi, on his twitter handle, shared a video clip in which he narrated about the importance of Navy which was prominent since the Chola dynasty , and also highlighted the role of women in Chola's navy

back then wherein they also held important positions.

He said that women were part of combat roles during those times.

PM Modi also reminded about the capabilities of Shivaji's Maratha Navy.

He also highlighted the role Indian Navy in the Goa's liberation and during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, an many other occasions where it has contributed on humanitarian grounds.

'Navy Day greetings to all our valorous navy personnel and their families. The Indian Navy fearlessly protects our coasts and also renders humanitarian assistance in times of need. We also remember India’s rich maritime tradition over centuries,' PM Modi's tweet read.
