Chandigarh, December 2
Private schools in the city are all set to issue and receive admission forms of entry-level classes from tomorrow onwards. The only difference this pandemic makes is that the draw of lots will be held online.
Till last year, parents used to download admission form online and submit it at the registration counter of the respective school. A majority of schools are going to accept forms and fee online, wherein parents will have to upload scanned copy of requisite documents.
Emphasis will be on online draw: Edu Dept
The UT Education Department has also been emphasising on the online admission process in schools. The department has asked schools to hold online draw of lots wherever feasible.
One such school is Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 40, where the entire process for the general category admission is online. The DPS will accept forms and hold draw of lots online.
After successful uploading registration form, a parent will receive text message on his/her mobile number provided by him/her within next 24 hours to pay the registration fee through online mode.
Common admission schedule
- Issue and receipt of forms from December 3 to 16
- List of eligible candidates to be displayed by January 15
- Finalisation & display of list of selected candidates by Feb 1
- Parents have to deposit fee by February 12
The school has clearly specified on its official website that the selection will be based on draw of lots to be held on January 20 for 75 non-EWS seats.
Parents will virtually attend draw of lots through online mode. The link for the same will be sent to eligible candidates. However, date for the draw of lots for EWS seats will be intimated later by the school.
Similarly, Bhavan Vidyalaya School, Sector 27, shared on its official website: “Keeping in view the present pandemic situation an online draw of lots will be held in the presence of the first 20 parents from the registration list. The whole process will be shared through Zoom platform. The link for the same will be available on the school website on January 22.”
While general category aspirants have to submit forms online, candidates applying under the RTE category at the Sector 27 school can download form from website or collect it from the school gate. Forms under this category have to be submitted offline with all required documents during the mentioned timings only.
Besides, schools have also put a disclaimer on their websites, which states, “The school will not be held liable in case there is any server or internet problems resulting in an inability to access or submit forms.”
