Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with the Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and discussed the situation prevailing in parts of the states due to cyclone Burevi while pledging all possible support from the Centre.
Tweeting about his telephonic conversation with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, Modi said, "We discussed the conditions prevailing in parts of the state due to Cyclone Burevi. The Centre will provide all possible support to Tamil Nadu. I pray for the well-being and safety of those living in the areas affected."
In his talks with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, he said he spoke on the conditions prevailing due to cyclonic storm Burevi in the state and assured all possible support from the Centre to help Kerala.

9.00 pm: The IMD has confirmed that Cyclone Burevi has now started weakening into a deep depression as it approaches the Ramanathapuram coast. Burevi is likely to make landfall later tonight.
7:40 pm: The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport will remain closed from 10 am to 6 pm tomorrow as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of airport operations in view of Cyclone Burevi, Thiruvananthapuram District Collector Navjot Khosa told ANI.
7:10 pm: The Tamil Nadu government has declared holiday in six districts tomorrow owing to the landfall of Cyclone Burevi. These districts are: Virudhanagar, Ramanathapuram, Thirunelveli, Thuthukudi,Thenkasi and Kanyakumari. However, essential services will continue.
6:00 pm: All government and private schools in Puducherry will remain closed tomorrow due to continuous rains triggered by Cyclone Burevi.
4:36 pm: Cyclone Burevi is likely to generate storm surge of about 1-m height above astronomical tide. The storm surge is very likely to flood low-lying areas of south coastal Tamil Nadu (Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari) during the time of landfall, the Ministry of Earth Science has said.
4.00 pm: In its latest bulletin, IMD has said Cyclone Burevi lay close to Pamban and has an associated wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph.
It added that Cyclone Burevi will move across Pamban area during the next three hours and will cross south Tamil Nadu coast between Pamban and Kanniyakumari tonight and early tommorrow morning.
