An itchy scalp or scalp pruritus is a common condition which can affect many people. The causes for this can range from dandruff, Seborrheic dermatitis, stress and even the usage of harmful hair dyes, harsh products and not maintaining scalp hygiene.
To prevent dryness and soothe the scalp, oiling is one of the most important steps. Pamper your hair and massage with an oil treatment followed by thoroughly washing the hair with a mild cleanser and conditioner. It is best to stick to paraben and sulphate-free cleanser and conditioner.
While washing your hair 2-3 times a week is necessary, you can also use the following packs which can help to treat an itchy scalp:
- Apply a mixture of coconut oil and lemon juice to the scalp. Gently massage this into the scalp, and wash with a mild cleanser.
- Apply a mixture of 2 tsp of curd and 1 tsp of lemon juice to your scalp. Leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
- Grind 5-6 hibiscus flowers and few hibiscus leaves together. Add 2-3 tsp of curd and a little lemon juice. Apply this mixture and leave it for 15-20 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
Additionally, you can also make changes to your lifestyle. You can manage your stress with meditation, exercise, and yoga. Also, including nutrient and Vitamin-rich food can help to boost hair growth. Include foods rich in Vitamin A, C, E, amino acids, antioxidants, iron and zinc, green leafy veggies, gooseberry, almonds, walnuts, curry leaves, beetroot, fenugreek, and turmeric to your diet.
