IIT Bhubaneswar sees surge in placement this year

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3 (UNI) The IIT Bhubaneswar has seen a surge in placements this year with the offers received already surpassing last year’s total offers as on date.
IIT Director Prof R V Raja said offers as high as 45 Lakhs Per Annum CTC have already been made to seven B Tech students of Electrical Sciences. Majority of the recruiters are IT & core industries and are wide-ranging indicating a growing trend this year.
Better placements over the last year indicate an optimistic placement scenario despite fears about the pandemic situation affecting the business economy throughout the globe.
The final year students are all geared up with full enthusiasm for the ongoing placement season at IIT Bhubaneswar via online mode owing to the Covid‐19 restrictions.
The shift of the campus placements to the virtual mode will be the trend making it more safe and convenient and is sure to be promising, despite the ecosystem facing an economic crisis, he further added.
IIT Bhubaneswar sees a very good start of placement season 2020‐21 with 88 offers with reputed companies ranging from Code Nation Innovation Labs, Analog Devices, Amazon, Dream 11, Rupeek, JLR, Caterpillar, Persistent, Mathworks, Optum (UHG), Oil India Limited taking part in the drive.
IIT Bhubaneswar sources here said so far 32 per cent students have been placed in a matter of few days.
Despite the overall impact of the pandemic on the market, regular recruiters have shown keen interest to visit and pick talent said Dr A. K. Pradhan, Professor‐in‐charge, Career Development Cell, IIT Bhubaneswar.

Kolkata, Dec 03 (UNI) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said, " We need to focus on the right priorities and create an environment of inclusive growth rather than polarization. "
Speaking at ABP Infocom, Ms Banerjee said, " Technology is a great leveler, Infocom needs to discuss and show the way forward on how the digital divide can be reduced. "
" If there is a will, there is a way. I am proud to say that our GDP growth is 12.58%, highest in India, " she said adding, " Due to our continuous effort, Bengal has the largest e-governance structure and platform in India and has become the home of all IT companies."
" At present 1,500 IT companies are working in Bengal. More than 2,10,000 IT professionals are working in Bengal, and this has happened in eight years. "
" We have started the Bengal Silicon Valley. First, they asked us for 100 acres of land, now they have asked for more 100-acre and it has been approved, " she said.

Two more COVID-19 deaths, 52 new cases in Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 3 (UNI) Two more COVID-19 patients, including a 58- year-old woman succumbed to the viral infection, taking the fatality figure to 116 and 52 new infections took the active count to 648, even as 87 cases of recovery, mounted the number of persons, who have recovered from the viral infection in Meghalaya to 11,241 as on Thursday.
