A man was assaulted, allegedly by a group of taxi drivers, while travelling on the N2 in Cape Town on Wednesday morning.
"Athlone police are investigating an assault common case after a man was assaulted by taxi drivers on the N2 between Bhunga and Jan Smuts Drive at about 07:30 [on Wednesday] morning," police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk said.
A video of the attack has gone viral. The video shows three men attacking the man on the N2 highway and it appears that someone sitting in a taxi is recording the incident.
The three attackers can be seen hitting and kicking the man, whose T-shirt appears to be torn. One of the attackers uses a bag to hit the man and another kicks him to the ground, before two bystanders intervene.
