Asian markets close mostly higher amid renewed hopes of US stimulus

Chinese markets were mixed. Set Composite traded 0.89% higher while Shanghai Composite traded 0.21% lower.

Asian markets closed mostly higher making advances during the day after muted opening on Thursday. The investors tracked renewed US stimulus talks in Washington, while the mood remains upbeat owing to vaccine developments after the first approval of a Covid-19 drug by Britain on Wednesday.

South Korean Kospi continues to hit fresh new highs and ended 20.32 points or 0.76% higher. Japanese Nikkei 225 trading down 40 points in early trade recovered to close marginally higher (0.03%). Sgx Nifty traded 0.31% higher while Hong Kong's Hang Seng surged 0.61%.

Chinese markets were mixed. Set Composite traded 1.03% higher while Shanghai Composite closed 0.21% lower. Chinese stocks were in action as new US elect President Joe Biden indicates no change in tariffs levied by the Trump administration for now.

US markets saw volatility creep in as intraday Dow Jones saw over 300 points moves as markets buy the dips on expectations of early stimulus. Dow Jones closed higher by 50 points on Wednesday after being down 225 in early trade while Nasdaq closed flat after being down over 1%.
