Imphal, December 02 2020: The United Front Manipur (UFM) has asked the 60 MLAs and 3 MPs of the State to take full responsibility if the outcomes of Indo-Naga peace talks disturb the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Speaking to media persons during a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, chairman of UFM, Sapam Shamungou stated that the one time Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories last year as no firm political stands were taken in time to counter the looming threat.

Stating that Manipur existed as a kingdom with its own Constitution even before the formation of the Indian Union, the chairman of UFM asserted that the legislators of the State should focus on keeping the boundary of Manipur intact even after the signing of Naga peace pact.

As they (the legislators) were elected to be the voice of the people, protecting the State should be their topmost priority, continued Shamungou adding that no provision in the Indian Constitution guarantees protection of Manipur land from modification.
