Swedish network Wexnet said that fibre expansion is progressing in Lessebo and that 98 percent of residences and businesses there have access to or are close to a gigabit broadband connection, hitting the national govenrment's target five years early. Lessebo local council in Kronoberg county is aiming to expand the population to 10,000 and wants to make it an attractive place to live and trade, with connectivity outside the centre, too.
In rural parts of Lessebo, gigabit broadband availability is approximately 80 percent, while it is universal in the four built-up areas, namely Lessebo, Kosta, Skruv and Hovmantorp.
Wexnet is an open access network providing broadband connectivity to retail and business customers in Alvesta, Lessebo, Tingsryd and Vaxjo. It hosts a number of ISPs, telephony and television suppliers on its network.
