Sensex up  marginally by 14.61 pts

Mumbai, Dec 3 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Thursday closed positive at 44,632.65, rising by 14.61 pts on buying in Metal, Utilities and Oil and Gas stocks.

The Nifty of national stock exchange moved up by 20.15 pts at 13,133.90.

The sensex opened at life time high at 44,902.02, jumping by 284 pts. During the day it surged nearly 335 pts to 44,953.01, days high.

In late trade it was slipped by 67 pts to 44,551.42, days low.

At close it managed to close in green at 44,632.65, registering a small gain of 14.61 from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 44,953.01 and 44,551.42 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at

13,216.60 and 13,107.90 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices that moved up were Metal, Utilities and Oil and Gas stocks.

The scrips that kept the market positive were Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, Asian Paints, NTPC and SBI.

However, selling in HDFC Bank, TCS, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel restricted from further gains, broker informed.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.85 pc and Small Cap by 0.68 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced while 12 declined.
