Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were arrested by NCB in a drug probe related to Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. They were arrested three months back on 4th September. While Rhea was granted bail on 7th October, Showik was in jail since the last three months.
Sushant's house manager Samuel Miranda and his cook Dipesh Sawant were also arrested in connection with the case.
Finally after spending three months in jail, Showik was granted bail by a special court in Mumbai on Wednesday. There were reports that prior to this, Showik had appealed for bail several times in special court and Bombay High Court but everytime it was rejected.
He had recently moved a fresh bail application before the special court citing Supreme Court's recent ruling in which it had held that statments made to NCB officers cannot be used as a confessional statement in the trial of an offence or to convict an accused under the NDPS Act.
Showik was kept in the Taloja Central Jail in Raigad and was represented by lawyer Satish Manshinde who also fought Rhea's case.
