NOIDA: Around 200 members of the BKU-Lokshakti were stopped on Wednesday afternoon as they tried to cross over to Delhi through the DND Flyway.
The farmers, from various districts of western UP, had been stopped at Jewar too, but they managed to get on to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and reach Dalit Prerna Sthal, where they were stopped again. Police asked them to continue their protest at the Prerna Sthal park.
“After we reached the Mahamaya flyover, police stopped us. We are continuing our protest here at the park,” said Shyoraj Singh, the BKU-Lokshakti president.
Singh said the main concern of the farmers was about the minimum support price. “When the government was changed, farmers had a lot of expectations from it. The farmers from Punjab and Haryana are concerned they will lose out on the MSP and the entire country is worried about not getting the beneficial price. This is our basic right. We want to ask Modiji with folded hands to grant us the MSP,” he added.
Singh said the farmers would be happy if the government just announced that the system of MSP would continue.
33 detained & let off

Hundreds of protesters, led by farmer leader Sukhveer Pahalwan of the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, which is known for raising the issue of enhanced compensation, were stopped by the Noida police after they tried to enter Delhi via the DND Flyway. At least 33 members of the outfit were taken to the police lines and released on personal bonds. “We wanted to enter Delhi via DND but Noida police stopped us. Some of us were taken the police lines and detained for some time,” he said.
