NEW DELHI: The digital platform of State Bank of India (SBI), Yono, has been hit by system outage, the bank informed on Thursday. However, it has assured the customers that restoration is underway and the services will be available shortly.
In a tweet, SBI said: "We request our esteemed customers to bear with us as we work towards restoring YONO SBI app to provide for an uninterrupted banking experience."
SBI has requested customers to use Online SBI and Yono Lite for their banking needs.
The bank had to face the ire of customers earlier this week as well when many customers experienced transaction failure. In November, the bank had issued a statement after intermittent connectivity issues with the servers left many customers stranded.
Replying to a customer's tweet regarding technical issues, on November 24, SBI had said, "We regret the inconvenience caused. There are intermittent connectivity issues with our Servers. Kindly bear with us as our team is on the job to resolve the issue at the earliest. In the meantime, we suggest you use our other digital channels."
Earlier in the day, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) temporarily barred HDFC Bank from launching digital banking initiatives and issuing new credit cards after taking a serious view of service outages at the country's largest private sector lender over the last two years.
The order came days after the last instance of service outage across its digital banking channels, including internet banking, mobile banking and other payments. The outage, which happened on November 21, had severely inconvenienced customers, the private lender informed the exchanges.
