Italian communications regulator Agcom has fined the operators Telecom Italia (TIM) and WindTre a total of over EUR 1 million for failing to provide accurate information to customers signing up to numerous ‘All Inclusive’ fixed network plans. The watchdog fined TIM a total of EUR 634,000 for a number of breaches, above all in connection with lack of transparency regarding the cost of withdrawing from the contract and the cost of paying for certain elements, such as the router, in instalments. Affected plans included TIM Super, TIM Connect XDSL and TIM Advance, said Agcom.
At the same time, the regulator fined WindTre a total of EUR 464,000 for a similar lack of transparency regarding the cost of early withdrawal from a number of its fixed line plans and for failing to provide accurate data about activation fees and add-ons.
Both operators have been given 60 days from the data of notification to appeal against the fines.
