MUMBAI: A departmental inquiry has been initiated against two NCB officers for their conduct in the court proceedings in two drugs cases involving actress Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash, and comedian Bharati Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa, sources said.
NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede did not respond to the calls and messages seeking his comment. Singh and her husband were granted bail on November 23 though neither the public prosecutor nor any NCB officer was present to submit its reply to the bail pleas during the hearing. In the case of Karishma Prakash, sources said that an officer allegedly made an attempt to prsuadeher to hire a particular lawyer to fight the case. Her anticipatory bail is pending in the court.
