Siddipet: In a first of its kind of move, the Board of Intermediate Education opened a free training centre for aspirants of constable jobs at Government Junior College, Siddipet on Thursday, with the objective of encouraging the youth from the district to join the police force.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao, who inaugurated the facility, said the State government has decided to open 33 such free training centres in all the 33 districts headquarters to provide free physical training and theoretical coaching for police job aspirants.
Harish Rao said the youth, who had dreams of becoming a police officer, must put in all efforts to realise their dream. Since private institutes were collecting exorbitant fees, he said the free training facility was a great opportunity to aspirants hailing from poor financial background.
Stating that he would lay a 400-meter track at the Government Junior College within three days to help the students train, he urged the aspirants to attend both the physical and theoretical classes without a miss.
With the objective of encouraging students who were determined to get into a job, Harish Rao offered to provide free study material to students who attend over 80 per cent of classes at the free training facility. As many as 170 persons including 32 women enrolled for the free training. Though 450 had applied for free training, 170 cleared all the eligibility criteria for free training. The candidates will be imparted physical training from 6 am to 8 am where they will be trained by physical trainers in running, shot put, long jump, high jump and other activities.
He further vowed to present free sports material and uniforms to candidates who maintain 95 per cent attendance. Assuring free coaching to candidates preparing for Group-II, DSc and other recruitment examinations, Harish Rao said the government had already set up BC and SC Study Circles to provide free coaching for job aspirants from Siddipet. Stating that the administration provided free coaching for SI and constable recruitment examinations two years ago, he said that 66 out of 300 trained by them had got jobs, which include three SIs.
The Minister has elaborated how the free training given by them for Group-II, Police recruitment, Teacher Eligibility Test and others helped the candidates to crack the examinations and get into a job.
MLC, Ragotham Reddy, Additional Collector, Muzammil Khan, Head of the free coaching Centre, Kanaka Chandram, Principal of Government Junior College, Ganne Balakishan and others were present.
